A daily practice is easier to maintain when the session is small enough to start and specific enough to review.
Use a repeatable session shape
Set aside one minute to choose the focus, eight minutes to draw, and one minute to record what you noticed. Keep the focus for several sessions before changing it.
The daily checklist
- Name one skill.
- Set a short timer.
- Save the drawing with the date.
- Write one observation and one next step.
Common failure modes
Starting with an ambitious session, tracking only streaks, and skipping review can make a habit look active while leaving the learning goal unclear.
When another method is better
Use longer scheduled sessions when you are completing a deliberate study or finished illustration. Use prompts without a fixed focus when exploration is the goal.
